The beach profile at Uriti Point has had many changes, with storms taking much of the foreshore. By mid-2024 the sand had begun to buildup again. Several of the pitfall traps, onduline, and the transect lines have been replaced and habitat rehabilitation is underway. Under the guidance of Dianne Christenson, students of Whareama School dragged logs up into the dunes to provide a place for the katipō and lizards to hide. However, there were large numbers of mice and hedgehogs, possibly also cats and dogs. Large scale trapping is underway to eradicate these predators from the dune area.
