Sustainable Wairarapa endeavours to meet bimonthly to discuss current projects. The meetings often have a presentation by a local with unique knowledge about biodiversity conservation or climate change.

Being a member of a close-knit community group like Sustainable Wairarapa provides all the benefits of wellbeing that come with volunteer actions:

  • Physical - most of our activities require our members to spend some time outdoors, whether planting, weeding, or sitting very still counting organisms
  • Mental - taking positive action to mitigate biodiversity loss and climate change
  • Social - being with like-minded people who care for their fellow members and the future prosperity of Wairarapa
  • Spiritual - being outdoors and taking action for the environment can have the dual effect of calming and energising.
